If the app lost a match

That should never happen, and it’s the report we most want to get. Before you write, try these two things:

If it really is gone, tell us what you were doing when it happened: which format, how far into the match, and whether the phone restarted or the app closed on its own. Please also tell us your phone model and its iOS or Android version.

Moving to a new phone

If iCloud Backup (iPhone) or Android backup is switched on, your match history comes back with the app when you set up the new phone. To keep a copy without relying on backup, open Settings → Export in the app and save the file somewhere you can reach from the new phone.

Getting your data out

Settings → Export writes your full history as JSON or CSV and hands it to your phone’s share sheet. It’s free with no limits, and the JSON holds the complete record of every match, not just a summary.

Rules that do not match your room

Pool rules change from room to room and region to region: whether the 8 on the break wins, what a third foul costs, how a handicap works. EightNine lets you set these for each match when you start it, and changing a default later won’t change matches you’ve already played.

If your room plays a rule the app can’t handle yet, tell us what it is and how it’s scored. Those emails help the most.

Requests and bugs

Send both to support@eightnine.app. EightNine is made by one developer, so replies aren’t instant, but you’ll hear back from the person who built the app.

EightNine is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any pool league, federation, or rating system, and it does not calculate any official rating.
